The ‘Magic Table’ arrived at Margaret House on 9 November. The amazing light and motivation activated games were specially developed for people with moderate to severe dementia, encouraging them to instinctively participate to stimulate both physical and social activity.

It has attracted a lot of interest locally and Home Manager, Julie Greaves and Proprietor, Thomas Kelly, were invited to speak on 10 November about the Magic Table on BBC 3 Counties Radio during a feature on dementia in the county.

It is already very popular, as it is multi-generational, with both staff, relatives of all ages and residents enjoying being able to take part together in the range of games.”

The Dementia Virtual Tour is coming to Margaret House on 10 October. It will give staff and relatives a chance to experience what dementia might be like via a virtual dementia tour, which simulates the world of someone with mid-stage dementia.

The Mayor visited Margaret House on Tuesday 1 September to officially open the final phase of the new Dementia Unit.

She enjoyed a tour of the new facility and the gardens, before enjoying chatting over tea and cake with residents and relatives.

The Mayor was very impressed with Margaret House and said “I’ve been really impressed by the level of detail & the care taken to make it truly a home”.
