Our Residents' Wellbeing

We want you to enjoy living your life at our Hertfordshire care home, Margaret House. Living here is very much home from home, with an active and fulfilling lifestyle encouraged to promote wellbeing for our elderly and dementia care residents. We have a wide ranging programme of events and activities taking place daily throughout the year.

Our dedicated Social and Wellbeing Manager will take time getting to know you, your likes and dislikes and specific wishes, so we can tailor a programme that meets your needs and that focuses on the social, physical and mental aspects of your wellbeing (especially important for our residents with dementia).

Below are just some of the various wellbeing activities that we regularly offer as part of a balanced programme covering music, relaxation, physical, reminiscence, social, creative and spiritual. We also have time just for you – to chat, to dance, to play scrabble, to just spend time together.

Eating well is also important!

We want you to enjoy the meals we provide and for them to be healthy, nutritious, balanced and appetising. Our Kitchen Manager provides a delicious range of meals, using high quality ingredients, which are then served either in the dining rooms, where staff are always on hand to provide assistance should you need it, or in your room if you prefer.

We understand that requirements can differ and our Kitchen Team can support your specific dietary needs and choices, including; Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Soft diets and Diabetic diets. We will discuss your individual dietary needs at your pre-assessment meeting and these will be recorded in your care plan.

Our Social and Wellbeing Manager works with the Kitchen Manager to organise a range of special events throughout the year including BBQ’s, themed days such as ‘Taste of Italy’ or ‘Pie and a Pint’ day, as well as Christmas and Easter. We also enjoy celebrating birthdays with an afternoon tea and the cake of your choice.

Ensuring that you drink enough each day is also important, so a selection of hot and cold drinks are available at all times and fresh drinking water is provided in your room. A choice of red or white wine is also available to have with your lunch or dinner should you wish to enjoy a glass or two.

Eating and drinking should be pleasurable and sociable occasions, which is why your friends or family are very welcome to join you whenever you choose.
