‘Tour de Yorkshire’ comes to Margaret House!

To support the Alzheimer’s Society, who were sponsoring the Tour de Yorkshire Bike Races, Margaret House Residential and Dementia Care Home in Barley held a sponsored cycle on Saturday.  They set up an exercise bike in one of their lounges and relatives and staff took it in turns to each cycle a kilometre or two, to between them complete 122.5 km, which was the same distance as the women’s race which took place the same day.   Lea-Ann Smith, Activities Co-ordinator, who organised the event said “It was a great day, with residents really enjoying cheering on their relatives and the staff as they each did their bit to get us to the target distance, which we completed in just over 6 hours.  In total Margaret House raised over £200 for the Alzheimer’s Society with this event, which is fantastic as it is a charity that we really like to support & is just one of several events we will be holding over the coming weeks around National Dementia Awareness Week”.  www.margarethouse.co.uk
