15 Feb 1971 was ‘D Day’ – the day the UK moved over to the new decimal currency! As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, we are going to be looking each month throughout the year at something that happened in that month 50 years ago.
So today residents enjoyed turning back time as we looked at the old notes and coins and then had a go at trying to remember how much some typical shopping items cost in ‘the new money’ just introduced in 1971!!
